MacEwan University is seeking an Accounting Technician II for a full-time continuing opportunity with the School of Continuing Education.
The Accounting Technician II is accountable for contributing to the School’s financial administration of new project grants, accounts reconciliation, and expense tracking. You will assist with the billing process, requisition/PO process, and reporting preparation. It is imperative that the incumbent provides backup within the area.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and analyzing monthly transaction details reports including revenues and expenses for journal entry adjustment;
- Completing assigned monthly reconciliations and working files for the financial performance report;
- Preparing for the interim and final financial report as per contract agreement schedules;
- Verifying and maintaining the financial transactions report for each grant/program;
- Receiving invoices, applying against POs, and informing Accounts Payable for the payment process;
- Performing the Expense Report Receipt Verifier;
- Coordinating expense claimers and approvers for expense reports that are not fully approved;
- Managing and coordinating computer deployment processes; and
- Tracking and updating the computer, monitors, and equipment inventory list.

Skills
You will have:
- Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft, particularly with Excel, and Google Sheets;
- Strong interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, and effective communication both via email and in person;
- A strong analytical mindset;
- A self-starter, motivated approach with great attention to detail; and
- The ability to handle multiple tasks and projects.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a diploma in Accounting.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting functions.
- Experience using PeopleSoft would be considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
