As Keyera continues to expand its operations across Canada and the United States, we are seeking a Transportation Compliance Advisor to join our Environment Performance team based out of our Calgary or Edmonton regional office.
This role is ideal for a Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) or Transportation Compliance professional who is passionate about regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and supporting the safe movement of dangerous goods across a diverse energy infrastructure network. The successful candidate will help strengthen and mature Keyera's TDG and Commercial Motor Vehicle programs while providing critical support to operations, logistics, and regulatory compliance activities.
The Transportation Compliance Advisor will play an important role in ensuring compliance with Canadian and US transportation regulations while helping build organizational capability and resilience within a growing business.
Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Performance, and supporting the Sr. Advisor, Transportation Compliance you will:
- Lead oversight and management of Keyera's Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Program
- Support internal, external, and regulatory audits related to TDG and Transportation compliance.
- Coordinate and assist with delivery of training programs and competency initiatives.
- Conduct assurance activities, including field inspections, documentation reviews, and compliance assessments.
- Support implementation and maintenance of TDG regulatory requirements, internal standards, and procedures.
- Maintain TDG documentation, records, and training databases.
- Provide advisory support during transportation-related incidents and in-transit TDG emergencies.
- Assist operations and logistics teams with TDG compliance questions and operational challenges.
- Monitor regulatory developments and support continuous improvement of the TDG management program.
- Support compliance initiatives across multiple jurisdictions within Canada and the United States.
- Participate in program development, performance tracking, and trend analysis to strengthen organizational learning and risk management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education in environmental sciences, safety, engineering, transportation, logistics, or a related discipline.
- 5 years’ experience working with Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations in industrial, energy, transportation, logistics, or manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of Canadian TDG Regulations; familiarity with GHS / WHMIS Regulations; familiarity with U.S. 49 CFR requirements is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of both Commercial Road Transportation and Railway operations and regulations would be considered an asset.
- TDG certification and related professional credentials would be considered an asset.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, or compliance assurance activities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex regulatory requirements clearly.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to build effective relationships with field personnel, operations teams, regulators, and other stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- A valid driver’s license and ability to provide 5-year standard driver abstract (clean driver’s abstract).
