The Department of Economics (www.ualberta.ca/economics) in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Alberta invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with a start date of July 1, 2027. We are looking for a macroeconomist. Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Economics (or be close to completion) and must demonstrate outstanding potential for teaching and research. The successful candidate will teach macroeconomic theory at the Master’s and PhD levels, and will also be expected to contribute to the undergraduate program, either by teaching existing courses or by developing new undergraduate courses that engage a broad student audience. Responsibilities will include maintaining an active research program, teaching in both undergraduate and graduate programs, and graduate student research supervision.

- A PhD in Economics (or be close to completion) by the date of appointment;
- Must demonstrate outstanding potential for teaching and research;
- Evidence of an impactful research program in any area of macroeconomics and a clear plan for future research;
- The potential to secure external research funding;
- Teaching experience at the university level commensurate with their career stage.
In addition to the above requirements, the following qualifications will be considered an asset.
- Publications in economic journals;
- A track record of successful research funding;
- Versatility in teaching;
- Experience with diverse instructional software and technologies;
- A track record of service to a department or comparable unit;
- Skilled advising and mentorship suitable to the candidate’s career stage.
