About the Role
Working within the Events, Theatre and Hospitality Services area, this is a flexible position whose work schedule is variable and may include an irregular schedule of not less than three (3) hours per shift and up to thirty-five (35) hours per week.
The Audio Visual (AV) Technician reports to the General Manager, Taylor Centre for the Performing Arts and is under the direction of the Lead, Technical Theatre Operations who is responsible for supervision and direction relating to hours of work, work assignment, client needs, technical operations and maintenance. The AV Technician provides specialized technical support and staffing within the scope of the MRSA and guidelines established by the Manager, Theatre and Performance Services. The AV Technician is responsible for supporting events in the Ross Glen Hall, TransAlta Pavilion, Hal and Marnie Wyatt Atelier, TransCanada Amphitheatre and other locations further known as the “Performance and Event Venues”. Also provides set up and operation for non-performance activities in performance venues such as instruction or rehearsal. Assists with the coordination of knowledge and information base for equipment.
Responsibilities
- Works events as a general Audio Visual Technician
- Provides set up for non-performance activities in classrooms such as instruction meetings or rehearsal
- Ensures that the Lead, Technical Theatre Operations is appropriately informed as to the needs to efficiently and safely support performance activities in the Performance and Event Venues
- Records and submits to the Lead, Technical Theatre Operations, details of his or her own chargeable time, material and physical resources used in the production of events for invoicing or charge-back purposes
- Performs live sound reinforcement, digital sound recording, digital video recording, video presentation and computerized presentations
- Performs and or assists with event live streams and hybrid meetings
- Assists with digital video recording, video presentations and computerized presentations
- Performs maintenance of AV specific equipment and performs some regular routine and/or required maintenance of production related equipment under the supervision of Lead, Technical Theatre Operations.
- Maintenance includes both performing physical repairs and maintaining digital assets and record ie. the organization and distribution of archive video and audio recordings;
Qualifications
- Two-Year Diploma from a University or Equivalent or Journeyman Ticket
- 2 - 3 years of previous experience and specific job training
Salary: $33.61 - $42.53 per hour
