About the Role

As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will thrive in a dedicated clinical practice focused exclusively on patient care, allowing you to fully utilize your knowledge, prescribing authority, and clinical expertise without dispensing responsibilities. 

What You'll Do

• Provide patient assessments and common ailments prescribing services through our pharmacist-led walk-in clinics.
• Work alongside physician specialists, to support patients with diabetes, cardiovascular disease, COPD, asthma, and other chronic conditions.
• Collaborate closely with our Specialty Pharmacy Hub to support pediatric and adult patients starting specialty and biologic therapies including onboarding, education, monitoring, injection training and on-going injections.
• Provide comprehensive pharmacy services in accordance with the Alberta Health Pharmacy Services Framework, including medication assessments, care plans, prescribing, adapting, renewing, lab ordering and optimizing medication therapies to improve patient outcomes.
• Provide ongoing follow up with patients to continuously support patient care 
• Deliver injection and immunization services, including routine, travel, seasonal, and specialty vaccines.
• Lead medication teaching classes and disease management education programs for patients and caregivers to support patient knowledge and empower patient decision making.
• Organize and develop health clinics, screening events, and community wellness improvement initiatives.
• Mentor pharmacists and support certification and professional development programs.
• Provide clinical care to a large and diverse patient population across multiple Calgary Co-op pharmacy locations, adapting care to meet the unique needs of patients and communities.

What you will need (Requirements)

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.Sc. or Pharm. D.).
• Licensed and registered with Alberta College of Pharmacists.
• Authorization to Administer Medications by Injection.
• Knowledge of provincial, federal, and company policies and procedures.
• Administration skills, such as planning and organizing, resource management and the ability to set priorities and coordinate work activities. Also includes managing time and resources so that work objectives are achieved on time. 
• Customer relations skills include meeting customer needs and establishing a service environment. This involves the ability to identify requirements of internal and external customers, focus on achieving optimal results, and develop solutions that positively affect customer satisfaction. This also involves demonstrating good customer service to all. 
• Reading skills, including the ability to accurately read and interpret prescriptions. 
• Oral communication skills, including the ability to speak in a clear and concise manner to peers, managers, and both internal and external customers. 
• Listening skills, including the ability to effectively understand customers and their inquiries. 
• Written communication skills, including the ability to write in a clear and concise manner to peers, managers, and customers. 
• Ability to multitask and be adaptability in a dynamic work environment, including the ability to work productively and maintain a positive, enthusiastic attitude when faced with challenges 
• Interpersonal skills include building relationships and conflict resolution. This involves the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with peers and management.
• Drive for impact, including demonstrating energy and enthusiasm for new ideas and practices and an orientation toward accomplishment and achievement. This involves the ability to direct self and/or team members toward accomplishment of objectives and to persist in the face of challenges and obstacles to achieve goals and objectives.
• Certification for Additional Prescribing Authority or commitment to obtain certification upon hire
• Developing, mentoring and coaching skills, including the ability to provide others with constructive suggestions and encouragement (desirable)
• Certification and experience as a certified pharmacist educator (desirable)
