Reporting to the Manager of Contracts and Procurement, the Contract Advisor serves as a key resource in guiding, supporting, and managing the branch’s contract lifecycle. You will work closely with various business units to translate operational requirements into robust, clear technical scopes and procurement strategies. In addition to overseeing ongoing contract compliance, performance monitoring, and risk mitigation, you will lead procurement evaluations and foster collaborative relationship management. By driving continuous improvement and operational efficiencies, you will help ensure our team delivers impactful, high-quality public services across Edmonton.
What will you do?
- Work with business teams to clarify scope of work, establish contract requirements, and provide strategic procurement recommendations
- Collaborate with corporate teams including legal, risk management, and procurement services to draft procurement documents, clauses, and specifications
- Lead evaluation committees through procurement assessments, contract negotiations, and vendor debriefs
- Establish contract key performance indicators (KPIs), performance expectations, and cost-saving opportunities
- Serve as the central point of contact for contract activities, inquiries, compliance monitoring, and vendor performance management
- Manage contract amendments, changes, payment resolutions, and closeout procedures
- Lead, train, and support internal team members while managing day-to-day workflow and recruitment processes
- University Degree in Business, Public Administration, or a related discipline with a minimum of 4 years directly related experience (preferably in a large public sector environment)

- Diploma in Business, Public Administration, or a related discipline with a minimum of 6 years directly related experience (preferably in a large public sector environment)
Assets
- Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., SCMP), Procurement, or a related field
Skills required for success
- Thorough knowledge of supply chain and procurement legislation, trade agreements, RFx methodologies, and category management
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, research, and problem-solving skills to evaluate complex procurement strategies and risks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience in contract writing, facilitation, and negotiation
- Proven ability to build positive working relationships with internal business teams, corporate partners, and external vendors
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment

Conditions of Employment

Salary Range: $49.916 - $62.735 (Hourly); $87,939.510 - $110,523.390 (Annually)
