You as a Cost Accountant will
- Perform financial data analysis and review of projects, and prepare reports and project financial summaries for project teams, area management and corporate
- Assist and enforce financial management best practices at the project level
- Enforce corporate financial controls and reporting expectations
- Input information using Excel and Accounting Software Program
- Assist project teams in budget tracking and financial forecasting
- Proactively complete project risk assessments and communicate information forward to regional manager
- Gain an understanding of construction contract types and how they affect project financial reporting
- Review and validate project transactions to ensure administration and best practice requirements are being met (including but not limited to journal entries, change orders, purchase orders)
- Complete project database set up and ensure it’s completed as per the project specific business deal
- Review project and area forecasts on financial statements; proactively identify in areas of concern
- Assist in project reconciliation
- Support any financial management and best practices training initiatives
Is this the right role for you?
- You have post-secondary education in Business Administration/Commerce or Accounting
- You have the ability to correctly identify financial situations and produce logical solutions to support a project team/business area
- You can demonstrate organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem solving, decision making, and analytical skills as well as a keen willingness to work in an open concept and joint venture environment
- You demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines
- Software is heavily used within the organization's processes, the candidate must have proficient computer skills and have a history of working within software programs such as: Word, Excel, and be comfortable to learn internal software programs
