Candidates must have availability for varied shifts throughout the school year. Please be aware that successful candidates will need a minimum of 3 days of 4 hour blocks of availability between Monday and Friday per Semester, between the hours of 8:30am-6pm.

This is a casual position which could include a variety of shifts flexing between the hours of 8:30am and 6:00pm, including a willingness to cover at our Patricia and Souch campuses based on business needs. The successful candidates are expected to represent NAIT in a positive, professional manner. Hours could fluctuate based on business needs with staff working up to 20 hours a week. Individuals may be required to workdays, evenings and/or weekends. 

Key Responsibilities

• Process sales and web orders in an efficient manner, modelling accuracy
• Actively engage customers by offering support, suggesting items for purchase, answering questions, and resolving concerns in a friendly manner.
• Support the process of receiving, counting, tagging, and organizing inventory and customer orders
• Prepare merchandise for sale and assist in the promotion of products and specials
• Replenish floor stock and keep Team Leads informed of product sell-through observations
• Support the picking and fulfillment of web and special order purchases
• Enact loss-prevention strategies in order to support a secure shopping environment

Skills & Abilities

• Excellent skills in customer service, communication, and teamwork are a MUST.
• Comprehension of Microsoft Office Suite with strong computer skills
• Detail orientated and an agile learner with the ability to retain product knowledge and confidently assist customers
• The ability to learn and follow established departmental guidelines and procedures
• Flexibility with scheduling, including the ability to work increased hours during peak periods and some evening and weekend shifts
• Must be able to lift to 50 lbs and be able to stand for up to 6 hours a day
• Ability to speak and understand English fluently.

Qualifications

• Must have previous experience in a retail or customer service environment where focus was on providing an excellent customer experience
• Point of Sale experience is preferred to be successful in the role
• Being able to troubleshoot digital and technological issues is a plus
• Completion of grade 12 or have an equivalent combination of experience and education

Remuneration Refer to salary range noted on this posting, plus 12% in lieu of statutory holidays and vacation pay.

Classification – Customer Service Representative I

Casual Customer Service Representatives serve as front-line service representatives at the NAIT Bookstore providing first-point customer support in person, by phone, and through digital channels. Roles focus on meeting customer needs by responding to inquiries, processing sales, refunds, and exchanges, and performing housekeeping and merchandising duties to ensure an effective and positive service experience.
Individuals may be required to work days, evenings and/or weekends.

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.

The compensation range for this job posting is : $17.85 - $23.99
