The Department
The Learning Commons is a hub of student, faculty and staff services. Included in this area are traditional library services, the Academic Success Centre for student support in writing, math and other subject areas; Accessibility Services for students, and the Testing Centre for both external clients and future Northwestern Polytechnic students. We are an area that encourages growth, learning and exploration for those who seek our support and of each other.
The Role
The Educational Attendant will be called upon to provide in-class and out-of-class support to students who need more complex support in nature and may require hands-on assistance. The specific duties of the role will be dependent on the individual that the incumbent is assigned to work with, but may include:

Guiding student behaviour/interactions in the class environment

Assisting the student in setting up personal materials in the classroom for learning

Assistance with note-taking

Acting as a reader/scribe for in-class activities/assignments

Working with the student out of class to assist with comprehension of assignment expectations, organizing and planning of assignments, booking accommodated tests, and obtaining research materials, etc.
This position is a temporary appointment and is anticipated to be up to 10-11 hours per week. Hourly salary ranges from $18.50- $19.50 and is dependent upon experience and qualifications. The duration of this appointment is dependent on the student’s enrolment and attendance.
Applicants must be available to work in person at the Grande Prairie Campus for the following shifts for the Fall 2026 semester:

Depending on the student's assignment load, an additional 1-3 hours per week may be required outside of the above-noted times.
