Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director, the Manager, Accreditation and Monitoring leads accreditation, approval, and monitoring activities for charter schools, collegiate schools, independent schools, independent ECS operators, and Alberta Accredited International Schools. The role provides strategic leadership to ensure accreditation, approval, and monitoring requirements are effectively implemented; offers guidance and interpretation of related policies; and supports the development, implementation, and interpretation of education legislation, regulations, policies, and ministry initiatives.
The Manager, Accreditation and Monitoring is accountable for:
- Leading accreditation and approval processes for charter schools, collegiate schools, independent schools and independent ECS operators and Alberta Accredited International Schools.
- Providing leadership for monitoring activities related to Alberta Accredited International Schools and supporting the monitoring of private ECS operators.
- Supporting the development and implementation of government, ministry, branch, and sector priorities through expertise in school programming and operations.
- Advancing the goals of the Program and System Supports Division by contributing to its mandate, core functions, and strategic objectives in alignment with the department's vision, mission, and business plan.

Qualifications
University Graduation in Education or in a field related to the position assignment, supplemented by four years related experience.
Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
The position requires the following knowledge and skills:
- Strong knowledge and experience of the Alberta K-12 education system, including ECS to Grade 12 programming and operations.
- Knowledge of government strategic priorities, policy directions, ministry business plan goals, and initiatives related to the ministry mandate.
- Understanding of the Alberta education system, including the operations of ECS operators, schools, school authorities, and related programs and resources.
- Knowledge of governance, operational practices, and administrative structures across ECS operators, school authorities, post-secondary institutions, non-government organizations, and government departments.
- Experience in project planning, including establishing outcomes, performance measures, and evaluation frameworks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet-based tools.
Assets
- Possession of a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.

This is one (1) permanent, full-time position working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
