The Opportunity
The Willow Creek Area team is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our operations team. Reporting to the area manager, the Mechanical Technician is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of compressor station equipment, auxiliary systems, and associated pipeline facilities. The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Specialists, and Project teams to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations while maintaining compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
What You'll Do
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on compressor station equipment and support systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment including gas compression, coolers, pumps, air compressors, lube oil systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Complete inspections, testing, and maintenance activities in accordance with maintenance programs and regulatory requirements.
- Support outages, turnarounds, commissioning, and decommissioning activities.
- Coordinate contractors and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Complete work management documentation, maintenance records, and reporting requirements.
- Participate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with planning and execution of mechanical work scopes including outages.
- Support emergency response and after-hours operational requirements as required.
- Demonstrate leadership in safety through hazard identification, FLHAs, permits, tailboards, and stop work authority.
- Mentor junior employees and share technical knowledge with team members.
Minimum Qualifications
- Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic, Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, or equivalent recognized trade certification.
- Valid driver's license.
- Experience maintaining industrial mechanical equipment in a field environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a geographically dispersed team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting natural gas compression, pipeline, or oil and gas facilities.
- Experience with gas engines, compressors, coolers, pumps, and auxiliary systems.
- Familiarity with SAP, work management systems, and digital maintenance tools.
- Experience planning and coordinating maintenance activities.
- Strong communication and contractor management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and operational excellence.
This position requires the physical requirements to:
- Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Work in all weather conditions.
- Climb ladders, stairs, and access structures.
- Work in confined spaces when qualified.
- Stand, walk, kneel, bend, and squat for extended periods.
