You as a Registered Nurse will:
- Manage the onsite health care service provided to employees and subcontractors.
- Manage and oversee the evaluation and treatment of employees with injuries and/or illnesses and referral to a physician or hospital, and subsequent follow-up treatment.
- Update the HSE Project Manager on emergency hospital cases and the status of the patient in a timely manner.
- Inform the HSE Project Manager when stock is required of necessary medical supplies, medications and equipment for proper on-site facility operation.
- Maintains confidential medical records in secure and password protected location.
- Attends meetings pertinent to operation of on-site medical facilities when requested.
- Determines appropriate level of professional licenses and certifications required to meet the level of competence as defined for project assignments. Performs assessments to ensure compliance with required levels of competence.
- Maintains project medical database to support the reporting and follow up of injuries/illnesses managed by the on-site medical staff.
- Communicate with EllisDon site supervision / superintendents to review planned work for each day on site.
Is this the right role for you?
- Applicants must be registered with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA).
- Must possess current CPR/AED Health Care Provider level.
- Must possess a Government of Alberta approved first aid course at an Advanced First Aid level.
- Knowledge of current occupational health practices and applicable legislation is desirable.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Proficient in occupational nursing and the handling of emergency situations.
- Knowledge of medical record keeping requirements in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice, applicable governmental regulations, and HSE requirements.
- Knowledge of basic HSE programs and measures for the prevention of illnesses and injuries.
- Open to developing Health and Safety Practitioner skills and capabilities to provide project support in addition to onsite injury care management.
