We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Land professional to join our team in a senior role supporting surface land activities across a complex and evolving portfolio. This position is ideal for a seasoned Landman who brings deep technical expertise in Crown and freehold surface rights, strong regulatory knowledge, and the ability to influence outcomes across multidisciplinary teams. You will play a critical role in enabling development and operational success by providing trusted advice, leading land strategies, and supporting key business initiatives from planning through execution.

Minimum Requirements
12+ years of progressive industry experience, supported by post-secondary education in Land Management or a related discipline
Deep expertise in surface land acquisition, maintenance, and termination activities
Advanced knowledge of Crown land processes, including OneStop and Electronic Disposition System applications
Strong understanding of applicable land regulations, policies, and industry practices
Proven ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate effectively with internal teams, regulators, landowners, and other external stakeholders
Proficiency with land systems, mapping tools, and GIS-related applications
Demonstrated ability to provide strategic advice, influence outcomes, and support complex project execution
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
In Situ or oil sands experience is considered a strong asset

Responsibilities
Lead the administration and stewardship of existing surface rights, providing expert guidance and strategic surface land advice to support project execution and broader business objectives
Interpret and apply complex land regulations, policies, procedures, and industry best practices to development and operational activities
Support new development initiatives and commercial opportunities by identifying land requirements, risks, constraints, and execution strategies
Manage Crown land applications within designated project areas, including OneStop/Electronic Disposition System submissions, disposition renewals, and site entry processes
Identify and assess third-party interests, obligations, and constraints, and prepare land release packages to support construction and licensing activities
Contribute to land acquisition and administration strategies, procedures, agreement development, and cost estimates
Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical leadership to land team members, helping drive consistency, capability, and operational excellence across the organization
Influence stakeholders and cross-functional project teams to align on land strategies and priorities, with or without direct authority
Location and other Key details
The position will be based at the Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Center at 150 – 6th Ave S.W
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday with business travel to sites as required
