Station Coordinator

About the Role

The CMRU.ca Station Coordinator supports students and faculty in maintaining a well-functioning online radio station and website. The coordinator’s main duties are purchasing music, uploading music, coordinating the on-air schedule, and updating the website when required.

This is a flexible position whose work schedule is variable and may include an irregular schedule of not less than three (3) hours per shift and up to thirty-five (35) hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Programming - using OMT Production tools/Log tools to make hour logs that can then be plugged into daily formats to ensure there is constant on-air programming
• Putting music into the library from our DMDS subscription weekly
• Managing iTunes account and spending balance
• Importing student projects into the OMT interface using OMT Production Tools
• Updating the website when required.
• On-air DJ scheduling
• Manage the station manager email
• Manage/Monitor our Social Media accounts when required.
• Plan remotes throughout the year (that are outside the course), including Cougar games and other MRU events (e.g. New Student Orientation)
• Housekeeping for promos/IDs/features/PSAs, etc. in the OMT library - Getting rid of anything that has been put in incorrectly, making sure everything is labeled, in the right folder/category, etc.
• Creating/Coordinating/Promoting any special on-air shows
• Using SoCast to monitor social media as well as keeping the website updated and fresh
• Keep the radio station area clean, tidy and presentable. Leading by example
• Be a mentor to peers and help with any questions
• Pick up the station mail bi-weekly from Communications desk
  

Qualifications

• A fulltime student in 1st , 2nd year or 3rd year of the Broadcast Media Studies Degree Program is preferable
• Must be academically in good standing
• Minimum 6 months of previous work experience, 12 months preferred
• Experience as a leader (keyholder, shift manager, any management) is a huge asset. 
• TECH SAAVY. This is an operational heavy position that requires knowledge of computer technology and software usage. 
• Problem-solving skills. You will be expected to learn quickly and troubleshoot.
• Strong Interpersonal skills. Students will be looking to you as a leader. 
• Demonstrated knowledge of live online radio show production, paired with direct familiarity with CMRU standards and productions, is considered a strong asset.
  

Salary: $15.45 - $19.44 per hour
