10/20/2026Ovintiv’s program is a comprehensive summer internship designed to provide a solid foundation of knowledge and experiential training while giving students the opportunity to apply what they are learning in school in a real-world setting.
As an intern you will spend the summer working closely with an experienced mentor and be assigned various other responsibilities intended to provide you with learning opportunities while delivering meaningful contributions to Ovintiv.
Ovintiv is dedicated to ensuring the safety and health of our workforce and the communities in which we operate. Interns in our Safety team gain valuable hands-on experience supporting field operations across the upstream oil and gas industry.
To ensure interns are given meaningful, value-added assignments, we do not create specific work assignments until a successful candidate is selected.
Some responsibilities of this role may include:
- Supporting field safety programs, education, and awareness initiatives
- Participating in field inspections, audits, and hazard identification activities
- Assisting with risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective actions
- Supporting industrial hygiene and occupational health activities
- Analyzing process safety data to identify trends and leading indicators
- Assisting with safety management system improvements, regulatory compliance initiatives, and the implementation of new safety technologies
HOW DO I QUALIFY?
- Must reside or be willing to reside in Grande Prairie, AB, or Dawson Creek, BC.
- Travel in Western Canada is required.
- Must be pursuing a diploma or degree in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, safety management, environmental health and safety (EHS), occupational health, or a closely related health and safety discipline.
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student through December 2027.
- Available May 3, 2027 – August 19, 2027.
- This is a safety-sensitive position and will be subject to the relevant requirements of the Ovintiv Alcohol and Drug policy which includes pre-assignment testing.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
In accordance with applicable law, the following represents Ovintiv's reasonable estimate of the hiring compensation range for this role.
Hiring Hourly Range: $23.13 - $32.02 CAD
Compensation may vary and will be determined by year in school.
Relocation assistance may be available for eligible candidates.
