Make your mark while you grow your career! The “Tax Planning & Advisory Manager” role requires a strategic thinker with strong communication skills and a broad base of tax knowledge and experience. This senior position offers significant exposure to executive management. In this role, you will advise on income tax planning and strategic tax matters, applying your in-depth knowledge of Canadian tax law to support tax-efficient business decisions in compliance with government regulations. Reporting to the Tax Director, you will be an integral member of the corporate tax team and will directly influence business direction and long-term value creation.

Key Accountabilities
- Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals within the Tax Planning and Advisory team, fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture
- Actively monitor tax legislative changes, assess their impact on the company, and proactively develop and implement tax strategies across the organization
- Lead significant corporate tax planning initiatives and provide related tax advice, including preparing formal memorandums and conducting complex research and analysis of tax considerations
- Participate in the planning and implementation of strategic initiatives such as internal reorganizations, economic modeling, M&A activities, and other complex tax matters
- Provide tax advice on transactions in the context of commercial requirements and limitations. Identify business improvement opportunities and help ensure transactions are structured appropriately
- Promote cross-functional collaboration by liaising with functions and departments across the organization
- Participate in industry-led tax advocacy initiatives
- Provide leadership and oversight for the international tax function
- Assist, as needed, with income tax compliance, audits, and appeals
What You Bring to the Role
- A minimum of 15 years of corporate tax or other relevant professional experience. Previous leadership experience is preferred
- A Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA) or a Bachelor of Laws degree, combined with significant tax planning experience
- Completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Program
- Strong technical knowledge of Canadian income tax law, together with demonstrated tax planning and research capabilities
- Working knowledge of U.S. and international tax law is considered an asset but not required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills relating to income tax reporting and financial accounting
- A high level of proficiency with computer and accounting systems
- Strong leadership and communication skills, sound judgement, attention to detail, resourcefulness, and strategic thinking
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
