Hourly Rate: $22.68 Placement is typically based upon a review of skills, experience, and internal equity. Position End Date: April 30, 2027 Deadline to apply: 4:00PM, August 31, 2026 Testing Services is seeking a reliable, compassionate, and detail-oriented Invigilator/Office Assistant to support both accommodated and non-accommodated testing environments. This role plays an important part in supporting student success by helping create a secure, respectful, and inclusive testing experience for all students, including neurodiverse students and students with disabilities. The successful candidate will assist with exam invigilation, student support, front-line customer service, and tutoring and administrative duties while maintaining academic integrity and confidentiality. This position requires professionalism, adaptability, patience, teamwork and the ability to remain calm in fast-paced or high-stress situations. This is a part-time role working 5-30 hours per week based on operational needs. We are particularly seeking candidates with availability to work up to 30 daytime hours per week, including regular availability between 10:00am to 2:00pm, as well as evenings and weekends as required.
How you'll contribute
- Exam Invigilation and Student Support:
- Invigilate in-person, accommodated, and non-accommodated exams following established procedures and academic integrity standards.
- Verify student identification, complete check-in/check-out procedures, monitor testing spaces, provide instructions, assist students during approved breaks, and respond appropriately to testing concerns or irregularities.
- Support approved accommodations including reduced distraction environments, adjusted start times, assistive technology, readers, scribes, and other accommodation requirements. Administrative and Organizational Support:
- Prepare, organize, distribute, scan, and securely store examination materials. Monitor and enter information into RegisterBlast and other systems.
- Assist with exam scheduling, room preparation, accommodation setup, database entry, and maintaining accurate documentation and records. Provide support to tutoring Services as necessary. Customer Service and Communication:
- Respond to inquiries from students, instructors, and staff in person, by phone, and by email.
- Provide clear and professional communication regarding testing procedures, accommodations, booking processes, and exam-related concerns, and tutoring support. Implementing exam payments. Team Collaboration and Operational Support:
- Work collaboratively with Testing Services staff to support daily operations, room setup, exam preparation, and peak final exam periods including evenings and weekends.
- Assist with general office duties and maintaining organized testing spaces.
What you bring
- Certificate or Diploma in Office Administration, Disability Studies, Educational Support, or a related field is preferred.
- 1 year of experience in administration, customer service, team environment, invigilation, education, or student support in a post-secondary or similar environment.
- Previous experience in test invigilation or testing services is an asset.
- Experience interacting with individuals with disabilities, medical conditions, and/or neurodiverse individuals.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, assistive technology, and online systems.
