Lethbridge Police are asking for the public's help after a shooting at a westside home that had been rented through Airbnb and used to host a nearly week-long house party.
The shot was fired at approximately 1:09 a.m. on May 10 through a second-floor bedroom window of a home on Lafayette Boulevard West. When officers arrived, numerous partygoers had already fled. Inside, investigators found evidence of recent bear spray discharge but no injured persons.
Police waited more than two weeks to release information about the incident as part of a broader investigative strategy.
What investigators found
The property had been rented through Airbnb beginning May 5. Over the following five days, it was used to host a large, ongoing house party that drew attendees from outside Lethbridge. There was significant foot and vehicle traffic in and around the property throughout that period.
Investigators have since interviewed neighbours and multiple witnesses, and obtained CCTV footage of vehicles and individuals who left the scene before police arrived. Despite that, police believe there are additional people who were present or who observed activity in the area who have not yet come forward.
Evidence gathered to date indicates the gunshot was an isolated incident connected to the party and those attending it. Police do not believe it was a random act.
