April isn't done with Medicine Hat yet.
Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a blowing snow advisory for the city at 11:23 a.m. MDT Friday, warning residents of near-zero visibility and hazardous road conditions that could last through the afternoon.

How Bad Is It?
Visibility can drop suddenly in heavier snow bands with little warning. Roads are accumulating fast, and gusty winds are making driving difficult especially for trucks, RVs, and anything tall. ECCC isn't ruling out road closures before conditions improve.
When Does It End?
Winds are expected to gradually diminish early this evening. That's your window. If the trip isn't essential, the smartest move is to wait until tonight.
Should You Drive?
ECCC's advice is clear: postpone non-essential travel. If you have no choice, headlights on, speed down, and leave significantly more stopping distance than you normally would. Conditions can go from manageable to dangerous in seconds.
Check 511 Alberta before getting on any highway road closures can happen fast on days like this.
Is It Just Medicine Hat?
No. Blowing snow advisories are stretched across a massive portion of Alberta today, covering Taber, Brooks, Drumheller, Red Deer, Edmonton, Lloydminster, and most of Cypress County. Calgary is under a separate wind warning. Up north, Lac La Biche and parts of Wood Buffalo are dealing with an orange-level snowfall warning a step up from what Medicine Hat is seeing.

This Late in April?
It happens. Late April snow events are a prairie reality cold Arctic air and spring moisture are a reliable combination, and southern Alberta gets caught in it regularly. It won't be the last one this season either.
