Three new Costco warehouses are coming to Alberta this year and two of them now have confirmed building permits on record. Here's what's known about each location, what to expect, and what still hasn't been confirmed.
Edmonton: Manning Town Centre
This is the one north Edmonton shoppers have been waiting years for.
A building permit issued by the City of Edmonton on April 16, 2026 confirms construction of a new Costco at 153rd Avenue and Ebbers Boulevard NW. The project is valued at approximately $28 million and includes plans for an adjoining liquor store, consistent with other Alberta Costco locations.
Costco does not comment on new locations more than three months ahead of opening, so don't expect an official announcement until closer to the date. Based on Costco's typical 9-to-10-month build-out timeline, a late 2026 opening is the most reasonable expectation though no date has been confirmed.
The new warehouse will anchor the southern portion of Manning Town Centre. For years, north side residents have had to choose between the crowded Yellowhead location and the 50th Street warehouse near Clareview. That changes when this one opens. We first reported this location back in December 2025 read that story here: A New Costco Is Coming to Manning Town Centre.

Near Calgary: Bingham Crossing (Rocky View County)
This one has been years in the making and it's finally happening.
Construction is underway on a 165,000 square foot Costco warehouse as the first phase of the Bingham Crossing development in Springbank, west of Calgary. Costco closed on an 18-acre parcel of land with developer Rencor in late 2025, and Rocky View County issued a building permit valued at $25.8 million in January 2026. The facility is expected to open in fall 2026.
The site sits near Highway 1 and Range Road 33 making it the first Costco on the western edge of Calgary. It will serve not just west Calgary residents but communities like Cochrane, Canmore, and Harmony that have never had a location nearby. Future phases of the Bingham Crossing development will add dining, service businesses, a 190-unit seniors housing complex, and municipal green spaces.

Lloydminster
A Costco is under construction on a 19.6-acre parcel at 75 Avenue and 19 Street on Lloydminster's west side. The proposed warehouse is approximately 160,000 square feet with around 900 parking stalls. A building permit was issued by the City of Lloydminster in late 2025.
No opening date has been publicly confirmed. Lloydminster sits on the Alberta-Saskatchewan border, meaning this store will serve members from both provinces.

Are There More Coming?
Possibly but nothing else is confirmed for 2026. Costco is famously tight-lipped about new locations, only acknowledging them within a few months of opening. The three locations above are all backed by building permits on public record. If a fourth Alberta location surfaces, this article will be updated.
Do You Need a Membership?
Yes. All three are standard Costco warehouses requiring a Gold Star or Executive membership. Annual membership starts at $65. The Lloydminster location will serve both Alberta and Saskatchewan residents under the same membership.
What Do These Stores Typically Include?
Standard Alberta Costco locations include a full grocery section, bakery, deli, pharmacy, optical centre, food court, tire centre, hearing aid centre, and a gas station. The Manning Town Centre location will also have an adjoining Costco Liquor store.
