Canadian Tourist Mitchell Fairbarn Found Guilty in Las Vegas Flamingo Case as Advocates Demand Maximum Sentence
A Canadian tourist has been found guilty of animal cruelty for taking Peachy, a 27-year-old Chilean flamingo, from the Flamingo Las Vegas wildlife habitat and carrying the bird up to his hotel’s 14th floor. Mitchell Fairbarn, 34, from Ontario, told jurors he’d had “30 to 40 beers” and thought it would be funny. A Nevada animal group is now petitioning for the maximum sentence. He’ll be sentenced Dec. 1.
