As an Academic Aide, you may support an assigned student as a reader, scribe, note taker or invigilator. You will work closely with students while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, respect and appropriate boundaries, using good judgment to determine when questions or concerns should be referred to other College resources.

Using current technologies and tools identified by the student to support their academic participation.
Establishing appropriate responses to student-initiated interactions and recognizing when a matter should be escalated or referred to another resource.
Promoting an inclusive and respectful atmosphere for adult learners.
Participating in Academic Aide meetings as required to gain and share relevant information.
Accommodated Testing: Provide invigilation services for students receiving test accommodations, ensuring exams are administered appropriately and securely. Responsibilities include:
Invigilating both computer-based and paper-based examinations.
Maintaining test security and following established testing procedures.
Logging students into password-protected computer-based tests.
Collecting completed examinations and returning them to the appropriate College personnel.
Interacting professionally with students, faculty and staff.
Responding appropriately and professionally to challenging situations, including situations involving suspected academic misconduct.
Alternative Format & Material Preparation: Support students by preparing and organizing academic materials in formats that meet their accessibility needs. This includes preparing alternate-format materials for use with assistive technology, assembling materials for academic projects, and checking completed materials for quality and accuracy. You will ensure materials are prepared and distributed in a timely manner while maintaining accurate records of alternate-format preparation.
You may also perform other related duties within the department as required.
What Sets You Apart
You are a supportive, respectful and dependable individual who understands the importance of creating an inclusive learning environment. You demonstrate patience, professionalism and sound judgment when working directly with students and are comfortable recognizing when a situation requires additional support or referral.
You bring strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately, particularly when taking notes, transcribing dictated responses, preparing alternate-format materials or administering examinations. You are comfortable using technology and adapting to the tools and formats required to support individual students.
You communicate professionally with students, faculty and staff and can remain calm and respectful when handling sensitive or challenging situations. Above all, you approach your work with discretion, respect for adult learners and a commitment to providing reliable academic support.
