We are hiring a permanent full-time Analyst, System Testing position working out of the South Service Centre in Edmonton, AB.
The Analyst, System Testing supports the testing and continuous improvement of systems used for tariff and load settlement operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and effectiveness of critical operational systems including:
- STARS (Settlement Tariff and Revenue System)
- MDR (Meter Data Repository)
- Command Center
- GeoFIT (Field Information Tool)
Working closely with operational teams, Metering Operations, Meter Data and Billing, and IT, you will gather and document business requirements, develop and execute test plans, validate results, and help drive system enhancements that support business objectives.
This job is eligible for the Where we Work program with two days in the office.

What you’d be responsible for
- Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective test scenarios and test scripts.
- Facilitate business requirements meetings and document clear, concise requirements for system enhancements and modifications.
- Develop and execute test cases that meet project and operational requirements.
- Validate and confirm testing results against documented business requirements.
- Document testing outcomes using established testing standards and templates.
- Collaborate with Meter Data and Billing, Metering Operations, and IT teams to ensure systems and processes remain reliable, efficient, and high quality.
- Investigate and resolve defects through effective communication and problem-solving.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for systems, processes, and testing methodologies.
- Deliver results aligned with performance metrics and project objectives.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, accountability, and customer service in all aspects of work.
What’s required to be successful
Education
- Two-year post-secondary diploma from a recognized educational institution (Computer Systems Technology preferred).
- A Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Administration will be considered an asset.
- Completed or actively pursuing a Software Testing Certificate.
Knowledge/Technical Skills
- 2 years of experience working with IT in a testing and project management capacity.
- 2 years leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of the Alberta electricity market and AUC Rules related to Load Settlement and Tariff Billing.
- Experience with or working knowledge of the following systems and tools is preferred:
- Oracle PL/SQL
- STARS
- MDR
- Azure Devops
- DXP
- Command Center
- Ability to interpret business and technical requirements and translate them into test scenarios.
- Strong understanding of test planning, execution, and prioritization.
- Ability to modify test scripts as issues are identified during testing.
- Experience creating and maintaining test data to support business scenarios.
- Ability to determine root causes of test failures and system issues.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders and IT teams to resolve testing issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Adaptability, professionalism, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Wage: Starting at $41.52 per hour. Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
Hours of work: 80 hours biweekly
