As the Business Strategist, you will be responsible for providing ongoing strategic and operational support to Calgary Transit. In this role, you will create strategies, research industry best practises, and analyze Calgary Transit data to develop and support implementation of political and strategic recommendations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, analyze trends, and formulate strategic positions. Primary duties include:- Develop strategies and execute initiative that support operational service delivery.
- Identify and evaluate existing/emerging issues and develop plans, strategies, and tactics to address issues and monitor for improvement/resolutions.
- Facilitate continuous improvement initiative to enhance operational efficiencies.
- Apply project management skills to support and/or lead interdisciplinary project teams.
- Engage with partners and frontline employees, incorporating feedback into strategic planning.
- Build and maintain relationships with interested parties, including external organizations.
- Collaborate with team members to produce reports, presentations, and deliver recommendations to divisional teams, management, and the public.
- A degree in Business, Public Administration, Planning, or related field and at least 5 years of related experience in policy and program development and/or operational and strategic planning.
- Qualitative and quantitative research and analysis experience is required.
- Experience with project management, change management, and/or process and service review and improvement initiative will be given preference.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to provide guidance and foster change, political awareness, and a collaborative approach to working within a team.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills as well as the ability to prioritize, build consensus among internal/external partners and influence without authority.

This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.
Position and Pay Information
- Business Unit: Calgary Transit
- Union: CUPE Local 38
- Position Type: 2 Temporary (up to 22 months)
- Compensation: Pay Grade 11 $46.21 - 61.78 per hour
- Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week.
- Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
