We are looking for a Communications Advisor to support the development and execution of communications initiatives that enhance our reputation and advance business objectives. In this role, you will coordinate corporate news releases, develop compelling communications content, monitor media coverage, and provide media relations support. What You Will Do
- Coordinate the development, approval, tracking, and issuance of corporate news releases and announcements related to company developments, projects, financial results, and other business activities.
- Research, write, edit, and proofread a variety of external communications, including news releases, blog posts, website content, key messages, Q&As, backgrounders, speaking notes, fact sheets, and other corporate materials.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, business partners, and communications colleagues to develop compelling content that highlights company news announcements, projects, people, community investment activities, and strategic priorities.
- Monitor and analyze media coverage of Enbridge, industry developments, competitors, and key stakeholder issues, identifying emerging themes, sentiment, and potential reputational risks.
- Prepare media reports and coverage summaries following corporate announcements, investor events, news releases, and other significant company activities to support communications planning and issue management.
- Support media relations activities by assessing media inquiries, researching reporters and outlets, developing response materials, and assisting with correspondence and responses to reporters.
- Ensure communications are accurate, timely, and aligned with corporate messaging, brand standards, strategic priorities, and communications objectives.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related discipline, along with 4+ years of relevant experience in corporate communications, media relations, public affairs, journalism, or a related field.
- Exceptional writer, editor, and proofreader with demonstrated experience developing content for external audiences and translating complex business, financial, or operational information into clear and engaging communications.
- Experience developing communications materials such as news releases, media reports, blogs, key messages, issues briefs, and other corporate content; experience issuing news releases is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical skills and sound judgment, with the ability to quickly assess complex or sensitive situations, identify key issues and messages, and handle confidential information appropriately.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments, manage competing deadlines, and deliver quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative, customer-focused professional who listens effectively, provides thoughtful advice, and builds strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Self-motivated team player who can work effectively both independently and collaboratively while remaining flexible and responsive to changing business and communications priorities.
Working Conditions
- Typically Office environment.
- Typical professional work hours 40-50 hours per week that could extend to weekends and evenings for special projects relating to the issuing of news releases or emergencies.
- This position requires flexibility to support the issuance of news releases outside of standard business hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends.
- The position regularly involves managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines and may require supporting sensitive, high-profile, or emerging issues.
