PositionThe Southern Alberta Medical Program and Faculty of Health Sciences invite applications for a continuing Instructor position to begin January 1, 2027, subject to budgetary approval. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) teaching position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor.
QualificationsThe successful applicant will have doctoral training in anatomy or a closely related field. Preferred qualifications include a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD, although a combination of qualifications and experience will be considered. The candidate will have experience teaching anatomy to medical students, as evidenced by a record of high-quality lecture, small group, and laboratory-based instruction. Selection criteria include academic qualifications, teaching experience, evidence of teaching quality, evidence of scholarly engagement with medical education, and educational leadership experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in teaching and learning, including the use of inclusive pedagogical practices and a demonstrated decolonizing approach to medical education. The rank of the successful candidate will be determined based on their qualifications and experience.
Job DutiesWe seek applicants with competence across a broad range of duties including, but not limited to traditional lectures, lecture video and podcast preparation, laboratory-based instruction using cadaveric specimens, small group instruction, exam setup and supervision, and remediation.
This position will be located in person at the University of Lethbridge, which is situated on traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory. We honour the Blackfoot people and their traditional ways of knowing in caring for this land, as well as all Indigenous peoples who have helped shape and continue to strengthen our University community.
Academic SettingThe position will support several programs at the University of Lethbridge, including, but not limited to, the Southern Alberta Medical Program, Nursing, Therapeutic Recreation, and Kinesiology. RemunerationHiring salary will be determined by the University of Lethbridge Academic Staff Collective Agreement and commensurate with qualifications and experience. University of Lethbridge offers a comprehensive benefits package and relocation assistance. This position is a term University of Lethbridge Faculty Association (ULFA) position and is governed by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective agreement.
