Grounds Worker III (Full-time, Continuing)

The Department of Grounds Maintenance requires the services of a full-time, continuing Grounds Worker III to commence work as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will be required to perform manual work in Grounds Maintenance and will operate various types of light and heavy duty equipment proficiently. The ability to perform strenuous physical labour under a variety of seasonal conditions is required. Safety is of paramount importance for the public, the individual, and their co-workers while producing a good volume of work. The nature of the work will vary according to seasonal changes and will include:

• General Grounds Maintenance such as turf maintenance, bed maintenance, and coaching of casual summer staff
• Maintaining Campus Irrigation System
• Snow and Ice Removal
• Tree Felling
• General Cleaning of Campus
• Campus Improvement Projects
• Utilization of heavy equipment for many aspects of the job

This position will be required to work a standard work week of Monday to Friday. Winter months (November - March) requires alternating weekend on-call for campus snow clearing. Overtime may be part of the routine as needed.
