Jump-start your career to becoming a Professional Engineer! Reporting to the Instrumentation and Control Engineering Lead, the EIT will support engineering activities aimed at improving the performance, reliability, and maintainability of the Horizon Oil Sands Upgrader. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will assist with troubleshooting and implementing instrumentation, valve, and control system solutions across all Horizon business units. The successful candidate will contribute to project scoping, support detailed design activities, and participate in commissioning and operational activities for small capital and reliability‑driven projects.

Key Accountabilities
- Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance by assisting with troubleshooting of instrumentation, control valves, actuated on‑off valves, control systems, and low‑voltage electrical equipment
- Support Operations and Maintenance during routine operations, outages, and turnarounds by diagnosing issues, gathering field data, and implementing engineering recommendations
- Develop scopes of work and cost estimates for the installation, upgrade, or repair of instrumentation and automated valves
- Perform preliminary sizing calculations for instruments, control valves, and associated actuation packages
- Develop instrumentation engineering deliverables, including datasheets, material requisitions, installation details, wiring and loop diagrams, control narratives, and instrument location plans, as required
- Support schedule development and coordination for small capital projects and collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines to assemble construction work packages
- Participate in field activities during construction and commissioning for daily operations and Turnarounds
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma and 4DX methodologies to enhance production and reliability across the Horizon site.
What You Bring to the Role
- Upcoming 2027 graduate from a Bachelor’s in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Program
- Registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA as a Member In Training immediately upon graduation
- Prior co-op or internship experience in instrumentation, controls, or industrial operations is an asset
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent with a reasonably clean driver’s abstract
