Manager, Risk Management

RISK IS YOUR EXPERTISE. STRATEGY IS YOUR MINDSET.

The Opportunity
As our Manager, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), you’re the steady hand helping Bridgewater Bank understand risk, make informed decisions, and strengthen the systems that protect our business.

You live where strategy meets oversight, bringing structure and clarity to an increasingly complex risk environment. You’ll design, implement, and oversee our enterprise-wide risk management framework, connecting risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting across credit, operational, regulatory, liquidity, and strategic risk.

You don’t just identify risk. You translate it. Whether you’re refreshing our Risk Appetite Statement, monitoring key risk indicators, preparing Board-level reporting, or navigating evolving regulatory expectations, you turn complex information into clear, actionable insights.

As a hands-on leader and subject matter expert, you’ll work closely with senior leadership and business partners while developing a strong team of risk professionals and helping strengthen risk culture across the Bank.

The Team You’ve Been Looking For

At Bridgewater Bank, you’ll be part of a nimble, forward-thinking organization where your ideas matter, your contributions are valued, and your growth is encouraged. We’re driven to make a positive impact and our close-knit culture values flexibility, innovation, and genuine connection. As part of the Bridgewater team, you’ll enjoy:

• Competitive salary and flexible benefits
• Employer-paid retirement savings program
• Employee-exclusive discounts on travel, insurance, memberships, and more
• Free travel medical insurance for you and your immediate family
• Ongoing professional development
• Flexible work models that make sense for your lifestyle, including our four-day work week option. Alongside other work models, this option gives you another way to harmonize work and life in a way that's personally meaningful and aligned with your role. Available to eligible fully in-office and fully remote roles, with tailored guidelines to fit department-specific needs. Requires a 12-month commitment.

For us, curiosity fuels innovation. We value people who are eager to explore new ideas and who are comfortable putting emerging technologies into practice. We see experience with AI‑powered tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, and similar platforms as a real plus - especially when it’s used to work smarter, increase efficiency, and find better ways to get things done.

Who You Are

• You’re a strategic thinker who can see the bigger risk picture without losing sight of the details that matter.
• You know enterprise risk management inside and out and understand how frameworks like COSO ERM and ISO 31000 apply within a Canadian banking environment.
• You’re comfortable navigating OSFI regulatory expectations and translating them into practical, executable risk programs.
• You’re an analytical problem solver who can take complex information and turn it into clear, actionable insights.
• You’re a confident communicator who can make complex risk topics meaningful to senior leadership and Board-level audiences.
• You’re collaborative and solutions-oriented. You know how to strengthen risk culture while building strong relationships across the organization.
• You’re a people leader who knows how to coach, develop, and motivate risk professionals while maintaining a high standard of technical quality.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Build a strong ERM foundation. Own and maintain the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework, risk taxonomy, enterprise risk register, and risk heat maps while ensuring alignment with applicable regulatory expectations and industry practices.
• Turn risk appetite into action. Lead the annual refresh of the Risk Appetite Statement and help translate Board-approved appetite into meaningful tolerances and thresholds throughout the business.
• Keep your finger on the pulse. Lead and coordinate enterprise risk assessments, scenario analyses, and stress testing while monitoring Key Risk Indicators and Early Warning Indicators across business lines.
• Make risk information meaningful. Maintain and evolve risk reporting, including quarterly dashboards and briefing materials for senior management and Board committees.
• Keep our frameworks current. Develop and maintain ERM policies, standards, and procedures, provide guidance on their application, and coordinate policy exception management and remediation.
• Navigate the regulatory landscape. Support OSFI supervisory reviews, internal audits, and external assessments while monitoring emerging regulatory guidance and assessing its impact on the ERM program.
• Connect risk with the bigger picture. Work with Finance, Compliance, Internal Audit, Credit Risk, and business leaders to integrate risk information and issue tracking across the organization.
• Strengthen risk culture. Develop and deliver ERM-focused training and communications while coaching and mentoring the risk professionals on your team.

What You Bring to the Table

• A post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree such as an MBA, MFin, or MRM is an asset.
• 7–10 years of progressive experience in enterprise risk management, operational risk, regulatory compliance, or a related risk discipline within a financial institution.
• Experience within a federally regulated financial institution or Schedule I bank is strongly preferred.
• Direct experience with OSFI guidelines and regulatory examination processes.
• Experience with RCSA, scenario analysis, stress testing, risk appetite framework design, and KRI frameworks.
• Strong knowledge across credit, operational, regulatory, market, liquidity, and strategic risk.
• Strong project-management skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities and deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with a GRC platform is an asset.
