The Opportunity
Keyano’s Research & Innovation department is seeking two Student Research Assistant to support the research project Ground Zero RMWB with research-related and administrative tasks. The Student Research Assistant(s) will report to the Research Chair, Northern Community Sustainability. The Ground Zero RMWB research project is a Government of Alberta funded research project that seeks to better understand the impacts of responding in one’s own community on first responders during natural disasters on Post-Traumatic Stress Injuries (PTSI).While one position will support the research team with research-related task, the research team is hopeful that a second position will support the team with the arts-based design of the final report, and encourages students interested in the arts to apply.
The positions start as soon as possible and will end on or before May 2027.
Note: this is not a remote or hybrid work opportunity, you will be required to work on campus and relocate to Fort McMurray, AB.

• Support the Research Team with administrative tasks, including but not limited to data collection, data tracking, transcribing, record keeping, final report writing, event and presentation planning.• Conduct literature reviews and data analysis using statistical software.
• Work closely with the Research Team on any reporting requirements.
• Plan and conduct knowledge mobilization efforts.
• Follow all federal and provincial legislations and internal policies and procedures around research.
• Interact with research participants in an ethical and professional manner.
• Be aware of research integrity and ethical requirements for research.
• Partake in mandatory training such as OCAP.
• Other duties as identified.
Qualifications
• Must be a current Keyano College student.• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to collaborate with others.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• High level of professionalism.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• A drive to learn and engage in broad research-related tasks.
• Previous work experience in research-related fields is an asset.
• Previous experience with and knowledge of the first responder field is an asset.
• Familiarity with statistical software such as SSPS is an asset.
• TCPS2: CORE certification is an asset.
• Familiarity with methods for research design, implementation and analysis is an asset.
• For 1 position: a background and interest in the arts.
Compensation and Benefits
- CUPE Student Rate: IS1 $20.43/hour; maximum 10 hours per week- Mondays to Fridays, and Weekends and Evenings as needed
