MacEwan University is seeking a Supervisor, Student Recruitment – International for a full-time continuing opportunity with the Office of the University Registrar (OUR).
Reporting to the Manager, Student Recruitment, you will be accountable for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of MacEwan University’s student recruitment activities focused on international markets. You will play a key role in the development of strategies and initiatives to strengthen the university’s brand, attract and recruit future students, and achieve application and new student enrolment goals set out in the University's strategic enrolment management plan. You will also provide day-to-day operational leadership and supervision of the international student recruitment team and oversee the educational agent portfolios.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting the Manager in the development of short and long-term international recruitment strategies, including targeting by country, program and agent for the beginning of fall and winter terms;
- Ensuring that recruitment goals set by senior administration are achieved;
- Measuring effectiveness of recruitment activities by developing and maintaining a system to capture and analyze statistical and database information by country, program, and educational agent in conjunction with Institutional Analysis & Planning (IAP);
- Supervising and guiding a team of international student recruiters; by assigning, distributing, reviewing, organizing, coordinating, and prioritizing workloads;
- Monitoring assignments, deadlines, and ensuring goals and objectives are met in alignment with quality and quantity standards;
- Serving as a point of contact, reference and escalation for the team;
- Working with international student recruiters to discuss problems, providing solutions and advice, and removing barriers to success through active problem-solving, based on knowledge of established processes, practices and standards;
- Undertaking recruitment activities in select countries as required;
- Collaborating with educational agents and high schools to promote MacEwan University as a choice destination; and
- Conducting appropriate post trip follow up with educational agents and schools ensuring ongoing communication within the recruitment process.

- High-level communication skills, including excellent written and oral skills, as well as social media literacy and fluency;

- The ability to build positive, productive relationships with diverse groups of people, including academic leaders, managers, faculty, staff, future students, and other university stakeholders;
- Effective team leadership and management skills with the ability to provide direction and subsequently plan, organize, delegate, and evaluate work in collaboration with others;
- The ability to effectively motivate staff and establish a high-performance team and culture to achieve required goals and outcomes;
- The ability to perform complex tasks using Microsoft Office Suite customer relationship management software, and student information systems such as PeopleSoft and Business Intelligence;
- Proven critical thinking, conflict resolution, and collaborative decision-making skills;
- The ability to collect and analyze applicant and student data to inform evidence-based decisions and evaluate effectiveness of ongoing student recruitment activities and new initiatives with a student experience orientation;
- Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;
- An understanding of International secondary and post-secondary systems with the ability to understand, interpret and apply University policies and procedures, admission requirements, and strategic enrolment management objectives and goals;
- Knowledge of best practices, initiatives, current research and thinking in student enrolment management, and the ability to assess their relevance and apply within the MacEwan University context;
- The ability to deal competently and discreetly with sensitive issues;
- Flexibility to manage multiple tasks and priorities, including the ability to deal with ambiguity and competing demands; and
- A proven ability to manage special events and projects.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, Education, Business, Administration, or related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of international recruitment experience and experience with supervising staff.
- Experience working with students and faculty, as well as developing successful relationships and stakeholder management.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a post-secondary environment would be considered an asset.
- Experience studying or living abroad, and proficiency in a language other than English would be considered assets.
- RCIC or RISIA certification would be considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Position Requirements
- This position is on campus only.
- The ability, willingness, and flexibility to travel and work irregular hours.
- Must have valid drivers' license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Must have valid Canadian passport with the ability to travel internationally and navigate different systems while travelling internationally.
