A family's Thursday evening turned frightening on Cobblestone Boulevard in Airdrie Alberta when a gold-coloured SUV lost control, jumped the sidewalk, and struck a six-year-old child before the driver sped off.
RCMP say the incident unfolded just before 6 p.m. on March 12 while a mother and her two children were shovelling snow outside. The SUV mounted the sidewalk, hit the child, then clipped a tree before fleeing southbound on Cobblestone. The child suffered minor injuries.
Two occupants are believed to have been in the vehicle a female driver described as 16 to 20 years old with medium-coloured skin and a white toque, and a teenage male passenger between 16 and 18. The gold Acura SUV was later found abandoned and seized by police.
