If someone you know goes missing
There's no waiting period to report a missing person in Canada. If you're worried about someone, you don't have to wait 24 hours. Call police right away.
If you think they're in immediate danger, call 911. Otherwise, call your local police non-emergency line, or your local RCMP detachment if you live outside a city.
It helps to have ready:
A recent photo.
A description: height, weight, hair, eyes, and any tattoos or scars.
What they were wearing when last seen.
When and where they were last seen or heard from.
Any vehicle they might be using, with the plate number.
Their phone number and the social media accounts they use.
In Alberta, the Missing Persons Act also lets police apply for access to records, like phone or bank information, to help find a missing person, even when there's no crime involved.
