Contract Position: Instructor, English

The Opportunity

The Academic Upgrading department at Keyano College is currently seeking Instructors to teach English courses. This position is a casual contract position on an as needed basis. Applicants must feel comfortable working in a classroom with adults of all abilities and backgrounds.
The Academic Upgrading instructors deliver quality classes and share subject matter expertise with students within the curriculum and course outline. The instructors also enter attendance and grade and perform other duties related to a teaching environment.
Potential Courses:
· Foundational English Language – AFL 100
Note: this is not a remote or hybrid work opportunity, you will be required to work on campus and relocate to Fort McMurray, AB. Preference will be given to candidates currently living in Fort McMurray.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to:
· Primarily teach their specific courses across the curriculum
· Maintaining office hours and student mentorship/engagement
· Maintaining professional competence and knowledge of subject matter
· Carrying out regularly scheduled instruction, ensuring students awareness of course objectives, approach and evaluation techniques, as well as, recruitment, tutoring and academic counseling of students.

Qualifications

Required Qualification:
· Minimum of a Master’s in English or related field. A Bachelor’s degree with significant teaching experience may be considered.
· Minimum of 1-year cumulative post-secondary teaching experience. Other teaching experience may be considered.
· Proficient with the use of learning technologies
· Excellent classroom management and instructional skills
· Demonstrated excellent communication, planning, time management, and organizational skills
· Dependable and resourceful team member with a proven track record of managing multiple competing priorities with a calm professional approach
· Commitment to inclusion and diversity

Compensation and Benefits

Placement on the wage grid is reflective upon educational and experiential qualifications.
