A 52-year-old man is dead and a male youth is in custody after Edmonton Police responded to a west Edmonton residence Friday night.
Officers were called to an address near 82 Avenue NW and 175 Street NW at approximately 9:36 p.m. on April 3 an area that falls within the Summerlea neighbourhood, steps from West Edmonton Mall. EMS transported the man to hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police arrested a male youth at the scene without incident. The EPS Homicide Section has since taken over the investigation. Police have confirmed they are not seeking any additional suspects.

What We Know and Don't Know
EPS has deemed the death suspicious, which means officers have reason to believe it was not the result of natural causes, accident or suicide but have not yet confirmed the cause or manner of death. That determination is expected to follow an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday, April 7.
The identity of the victim has not been released. The age and identity of the youth in custody have also not been disclosed. Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the names of young persons charged with criminal offences cannot be published.
No charges have been announced at this stage.
What Happens Next
Homicide investigations in Edmonton typically follow the autopsy before any charges are publicly announced. With the autopsy set for Tuesday, further details from EPS are expected mid-week.
