Edmonton police have arrested six of the seven men they say assaulted a 36-year-old on Whyte Avenue in July.
They've released two photos of the seventh, including one showing his tattoo.
What police say happened
On July 4, 2026, at approximately 11:46 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to a report of an assault on a roadway in the area of 82 Avenue and 108 Street.
A 36-year-old man was assaulted by a group of seven male suspects, according to the Edmonton Police Service. He was treated and transported to hospital by EMS with non-life-threatening injuries, and has since been released.
Six adult suspects have been arrested.
The description
The outstanding suspect is described as a young adult male with a medium build and short or medium length black hair.
He has large dark tattoos on his left forearm and left bicep.
He was last seen wearing a white zipper jacket, a black muscle shirt, blue jeans, and black and white shoes.
Police have released two images. One shows him in the clothing described. The second was released specifically to show the tattoo, which is the detail investigators are counting on.
Police believe he frequents the University of Alberta and Whyte Avenue areas of Edmonton.
What investigators are asking for
"Investigators have made significant progress in this case, however one suspect remains unidentified," said Cst. James Henderson of the EPS Investigations Branch.
"We are asking anyone who recognizes this individual or has information about his identity to come forward. Even small details could be a big help for our investigators."
That last sentence is doing specific work. Police aren't only asking for a name. A workplace, a gym, a first name, a neighbourhood, or the artist who did the tattoos would all move this forward.
Where it happened
82 Avenue is Whyte Avenue. The intersection with 108 Street sits at the western end of the strip, between the bar district and the University of Alberta campus.
It's the stretch people walk between the two, which is consistent with police believing the man frequents both areas.
July 4 was a Saturday. At 11:46 p.m. on a July Saturday, that corner would have had people on it, and the assault happened on the roadway rather than inside a building.

If you have video, check dash cam, phone or business camera footage from around 11:45 p.m. on July 4 near 82 Avenue and 108 Street. Two months on, most consumer systems will have overwritten it, but cloud backups and phone footage often survive.
One thing to keep in mind
Six people have been arrested in this case. None of the allegations against them has been proven in court.
The seventh man has not been charged. Police are seeking to identify him.
