A 34-year-old Edmonton man is facing serious sexual offences charges after Morinville RCMP investigated allegations involving a 15-year-old last year.
Jaswindra Nath has been charged with sexual interference, child luring, arranging a sexual offence with a child, and obtaining sexual services from a person under 18. He was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday. The allegations have not been tested in court.
Morinville is about 25 kilometres north of Edmonton.
What investigators say happened
Morinville RCMP received a complaint in November. The alleged offences took place between September 1 and November 14.
Investigators with the General Investigation Section allege Nath used Snapchat to contact and lure the teenager, then picked them up from school and brought them to his Edmonton apartment. According to RCMP, this happened several times over the course of those weeks.
Police believe there are more victims
Morinville RCMP say they believe there could be additional victims and are asking the public for help identifying them.
Nath allegedly went by the name "Jash" and used two Snapchat accounts "yegnut" and "yegnutn." If you or someone you know had contact with either of those accounts, RCMP are asking you to call Morinville RCMP directly at 780-939-4520.
If a child was approached, investigators want to hear from them. Parents in the Edmonton and Morinville area are encouraged to speak with their children about any online contact they may have had with someone using those names or handles.
