There are a lot of pho restaurants in Calgary. Pho City is the one people keep coming back to.
The family-run Vietnamese restaurant has been serving Calgary for years, built on the kind of cooking that comes from over a hundred cousins and twenty-plus years of shared restaurant experience. The founders grew up cooking and eating together and that shows up in the food. Every bowl tastes like someone actually cared about making it.
The Food
Pho is the obvious starting point. The broth is rich and slow-built, the noodles properly cooked, and the portions generous. The medium rare beef and brisket soup is a standout the kind of order that turns first-timers into regulars.
But the menu goes well beyond pho. The wonton soup, chicken curry, grilled lemongrass chicken salad rolls, and satay chicken Vietnamese submarine are all worth ordering. Late night, the classic spicy thick noodle is a reliable call. There are plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options for those who need them, and the drink menu covers everything from jasmine tea to mango bubble tea.
Fried banana topped with ice cream for dessert. Don't skip it.

More Than Just Dinner
Pho City isn't just a sit-down restaurant. The Chinatown location takes reservations and has private party space for birthdays, corporate events, graduations, and rehearsal dinners. Catering is available for larger events. Online ordering runs through both the Calgary Chinatown and Chestermere locations.
Hours run until midnight Thursday through Saturday making it one of the few Vietnamese restaurants in Calgary that's actually open when you want it late.
A Family Business, Through and Through
Pho City is owned and operated by a family of over a hundred cousins with more than twenty years of combined restaurant experience. They grew up cooking together, eating together, and sharing the kind of meals that stick with you. That history is the foundation of everything on the menu.
The restaurants they've built several across Calgary and the surrounding area, plus one in Saskatchewan all carry the same philosophy: food made the way it was made at home, served the way you'd serve family. It's not a corporate chain with a Vietnamese theme. It's a family that knows how to cook, sharing what they grew up eating.

Where to Go
The main Calgary location is at 207 1st Street SE in Chinatown. The Chestermere location serves the east side of the metro area. Both run the same menu and the same standard.
