An exciting opportunity is available for an individual seeking to bring their experience and contribute to the successful execution of the Green Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) project. As the Green Line Access Planner, you will be focused on access and business continuity planning for partners impacted by LRT construction, providing strategic project and planning support to help internal and external partners prepare for and manage the potential impacts of LRT construction. Primary duties include:

• Engage with external partners (e.g. property and business owners, Community Associations, Business Improvement Areas) to identify potential impacts of LRT construction on properties, businesses and communities (e.g. property access, parking, business operations, City services).
• Work with internal and external partners to develop strategies and tactics to mitigate the potential impact of LRT construction on properties, businesses and communities.
• Ensure external partners interests are considered during pre-construction planning, procurement and incorporated into plans where possible.
• Contribute to the strategic development and implementation of the 'Taking Care of Business' work program.
• Establish and manage relationships with private developers adjacent to Phase 1 of the Green Line LRT alignment.
• Participate in planning & development and construction coordination processes between private developers, Green Line and other City of Calgary business units.

Qualifications

• A degree in Planning, Architecture, Transportation Planning, Engineering, or a closely related discipline, supplemented with at least 5 years of planning or project related experience.
• Working knowledge of provincial and/or municipal planning legislation, involving a broad range of projects in an urban environment.
• Previous experience in developing policy and/or frameworks to guide development.
• Success in this role requires demonstrated strategic planning, analytical and problem solving; strong project management, organization and planning; and excellent interpersonal skills.

• This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

• Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
