Check your tickets, Alberta.
The record $90 million Lotto Max jackpot was won in Tuesday night’s draw, and the winning ticket was sold in Alberta.
It’s the largest lottery jackpot ever won in Canada. One ticket matched all seven numbers.
It wasn’t sold in Calgary or Edmonton.
The winner hasn’t come forward yet. It could be one person, or a group sharing the ticket.

The winning numbers
The winning numbers for the Tuesday, Oct. 20 Lotto Max draw are:
08, 15, 19, 23, 26, 28, 34
Bonus: 38
The Western Canada Lottery Corporation has posted the official results. You can check your ticket on the WCLC results page, in the Lotto Spot app, or at any lottery retailer.

Where in Alberta was it sold?
That’s the big question.
According to WCLC’s regional prize breakdown, the ticket was sold in the region it calls “Wildrose Country.” That covers Alberta outside Calgary and Edmonton.
It could have come from Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray or any small town in between. WCLC hasn’t named the community or the store.
Those details usually come out when the winner claims the prize.
Two more Albertans won $1 million
The jackpot wasn’t Alberta’s only big win on Tuesday.
Two Maxmillions prizes worth $1 million each were won on tickets sold in the province. That brings Alberta’s major winnings from the draw to at least $92 million.
Maxmillions are extra $1 million prizes added when the jackpot climbs past $50 million. Each one is its own set of seven numbers, and you need an exact match. A ticket can win a Maxmillions prize without winning the jackpot.
Locations for those two tickets haven’t been released either.
How the jackpot got to $90 million
Lotto Max raised its jackpot cap from $80 million to $90 million in April. The price went up to $6 a play at the same time.
The jackpot hit the new $90 million ceiling for the Oct. 16 draw, and nobody won it. It stayed at $90 million for Tuesday.
The total prize pool for Tuesday’s draw was about $119 million. Anything over the cap goes into Maxmillions and MaxPlus prizes.
The odds of winning the jackpot are about 1 in 33.4 million per $6 play.
With the jackpot won, Friday’s Lotto Max draw on Oct. 23 resets to an estimated $20 million.
How do you claim $90 million in Alberta?
Not at the corner store.
Big prizes in Alberta are claimed in person at an Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) prize payout office. There are two: one in St. Albert and one in Calgary.
Here’s what AGLC says winners need:
Two pieces of government-issued ID, with a recent photo, date of birth and signature.
Name, address and phone number written on the back of the ticket.
A group release form, if a group is sharing the prize.
Time. Winners have to stay while the claim is checked, and big claims can take more than one business day.
Does the winner get a giant cheque?
Only the one for the photo.
AGLC pays prizes over $25 million by wire transfer. Smaller prizes can be paid by cheque or direct deposit.
The winner has one year from the draw date to claim.
Is the $90 million taxed?
No. Lottery winnings in Canada aren’t taxed, so the winner keeps the full $90 million.
Once the money is invested, though, the interest and investment income it earns are taxable.
