University of Calgary: roughly 100 roles
U of C is the largest employer of the four, with third-party job trackers listing between 100 and 120 open positions.
Recent postings include a Medical Office Assistant with Student Wellness Services, a Schulich Studio Technician with the Schulich School of Engineering on an eight-month term, an Employer Specialist with the Engineering Career Centre on a 24-month term, and a part-time Administrative Assistant with the Calgary Institute for the Humanities.
Also posted: a Senior Software Developer in Information Technologies on a 12-month term, and an Events and Communications Specialist in the Office of the Provost.
The one worth knowing about: an Evening Supervisor at the Olympic Oval, a recurring part-time role in the Faculty of Kinesiology. The Oval is a 1988 Games legacy facility and describes itself as home to the fastest ice in the world.
Academic postings run deep. Sessional instructors are being sought in anthropology and archaeology, English, music, Spanish, philosophy and gender and sexuality studies, electrical and software engineering, biological sciences and nursing. There are tenure-track openings in computer science and at the Haskayne School of Business.
Most support staff roles fall under the AUPE bargaining unit, which is why pay bands appear in the postings.

What to know before applying
Most of these publish the pay, which is a post-secondary hiring norm and unusual in the wider market. The rate in the posting is the rate, because it's set by a collective agreement.
Many are casual, term or variable-hours positions. Game-day roles run on the athletics calendar. U of C lists a lot of limited-term postings running six to 24 months. That's a feature if you're a student and a limitation if you need permanent full-time.
Timing matters. Most of the MRU postings went up between August 14 and 27, right before the semester. Campus hiring clusters that way, and the applicant pool is at its largest right now.
Answer every listed qualification in writing. Post-secondary postings score applications against stated requirements, and failing to address one is the most common reason a strong candidate gets cut early.
Expect background checks on anything student-facing.
