Edmonton Police are asking for the public's help identifying a suspect in a deliberately set fire at a business in northeast Edmonton last month.
On May 10, 2026, around 7:30 a.m., fire damage to the exterior of a business near 91 Street and 111 Avenue was reported to police. Investigators determined the fire was deliberately set. Surveillance footage captured a male suspect at the scene and EPS released three images June 2.

What the suspect looks like
At the time of the fire the suspect was wearing a black Adidas sweater, blue jeans, and black and white Adidas running shoes. He was riding an orange Marin mountain bike and towing a small blue trailer.
Three surveillance images released by EPS show the suspect near the business before the fire was reported.
Why police are treating this seriously
The fire was set to the exterior of a business in a mixed commercial and residential area. Other buildings sit in close proximity to the site meaning a fire that starts on one exterior can spread quickly before anyone inside realizes what is happening.
"These types of events are troubling, especially with other commercial and residential buildings in close proximity," said Det. Rogatien Bourque of the EPS Investigative Response Team. "If you have any information that can help us with our investigation, please contact police immediately."

The broader context in Edmonton
The area near 91 Street and 111 Avenue sits close to the Alberta Avenue neighbourhood one of Edmonton's inner-city communities that has historically dealt with elevated fire activity. From the beginning of 2022 until the end of 2025, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services responded to 290 fires at properties classified as under construction or demolition-vacant a 66 percent increase.

Edmonton has also seen a pattern of deliberate fires targeting businesses across the city in recent years. In April 2025, a deliberately set fire destroyed or damaged 25 units at the Plaza 34 strip mall at 34 Avenue and 92 Street in southeast Edmonton, causing several million dollars in damage. In that case, as in this one, surveillance footage was a key investigative tool.
Deliberate fires targeting businesses pose a particular risk in dense commercial areas because they often start overnight or in early morning hours when businesses are closed, fewer people are around to notice, and the fire can grow before anyone calls 911.
What EPS is asking you to do
If you recognize the suspect the orange Marin mountain bike with the small blue trailer is a distinctive detail or if you were in the area of 91 Street and 111 Avenue around 7:30 a.m. on May 10 and saw anything unusual, EPS wants to hear from you.
