Muhammad Ahmed walked onto the University of Alberta campus twice in March 2026. Both times, police say, he engaged women in unwanted interactions that escalated into harassment and in some instances, threatening or aggressive behaviour.
He was arrested and charged with mischief specifically, unlawful interference with the enjoyment of property along with two counts of failing to comply with conditions. That second charge is significant: it means Ahmed already had legal conditions on him when he showed up at the U of A. He came back anyway.
Ahmed is known to Edmonton police and has a documented history of similar behaviour in other public spaces in the city and in other Canadian cities. EPS has now named him publicly something police don't do routinely and issued a formal public precaution.
He is currently subject to a court order that bars him from the U of A campus.

What to Do If You Encounter Him
Anyone who spots Ahmed on the U of A campus, or has a hostile interaction with him in any public space, is asked to contact EPS at 780-423-4567, or dial #377 from a mobile phone.
Acting Staff Sergeant Brian McGuigan of the EPS Sexual Assault Section said if someone approaches you in a threatening or aggressive manner, tell them clearly to leave you alone, move immediately to the nearest well-lit and populated area, and then call for help.
