A charter bus carrying workers rolled off a highway near Beaverlodge Wednesday morning, sending multiple people to hospital and prompting two STARS Air Ambulance responses from the scene.
Beaverlodge RCMP responded to the crash around 7 a.m. on Highway 672, west of Grande Prairie. STARS airlifted two people to Grande Prairie Regional Hospital in critical condition. Several others were transported to hospital with serious injuries, while some were assessed on scene for minor injuries.
"There have been no fatalities," said RCMP Cpl. Mathew Howell.
Seventeen people were on the bus, all workers, Howell confirmed. Whether they were heading to a worksite or returning home was not known at the time.

Why the Bus Left the Road Is Unknown
Howell said it remains unclear why the bus veered off the highway. The investigation is ongoing and no details have been released on the driver or the company operating the charter.
Road Closed
RCMP closed Highway 672 between Range Roads 90 and 92 while emergency crews worked the scene. Alberta 511 directed drivers to alternate routes. The highway has since reopened.

A Well-Travelled Worker Corridor
Highway 672 through the Peace Region is a main artery connecting Grande Prairie to remote oilfield and forestry worksites across northwestern Alberta. Charter buses carrying shift workers run this route regularly.
This is a developing story. Further details are expected as the RCMP investigation continues.
