Eight Calgary-based employers made Forbes' 2026 ranking of Canada's best employers for company culture.
All eight are hiring in Alberta right now.
The group includes a continuing-care provider, three major energy companies, a university, a utility, a national law firm and a clothing retailer founded in Calgary.

Bethany Care Society jumped from 162nd to fifth
No Calgary employer moved further up the ranking than Bethany Care Society.
The Calgary-based non-profit placed 162nd in 2025. This year it climbed 157 spots to finish fifth in Canada. It is the only Calgary employer in the national top 10.
Bethany operates continuing-care communities and seniors' housing in Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane, Red Deer and Sylvan Lake.
Its current openings include health-care aides, licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, occupational therapists, maintenance workers and administrative staff. It is also hiring in communications, finance and volunteer coordination.

Enbridge moved in the opposite direction
Enbridge placed 19th on the ranking in 2025. It came in at 162nd this year, a drop of 143 places.
That is the largest year-over-year decline among the eight Calgary employers.
Forbes does not publish a company-by-company explanation for changes in the ranking. The results are based on employee survey responses, so a major move does not necessarily point to one event or workplace change.
Enbridge currently has Alberta openings in finance, engineering, data, information technology and commercial operations.

These aren't all senior corporate jobs
Some of the 119 openings require specialized education or industry experience. Others are accessible to students, newer workers or people trying to move into a different field.
Mount Royal University's current postings include ushers, scorekeepers, game-day workers, camera operators, customer-experience staff and recreation positions. It is also hiring in management, data, student services and education.
Bethany has maintenance and administrative openings alongside its clinical positions.
Mark's has three fit-model postings in Calgary, a job many people may not know exists. It is also hiring an assistant manager in Lethbridge.
The openings at Shell, Suncor and Enbridge lean more heavily toward engineering, energy operations, skilled trades, finance, information technology and analysis. ENMAX is recruiting in engineering and accounting, while Bennett Jones has openings in law, technology, marketing and business operations.
For job seekers, the range matters as much as the ranking. These are not 119 versions of the same corporate office job.
How Forbes built the ranking
Forbes produced the list with market-research company Statista.
More than 37,000 employees working for companies with at least 500 people in Canada were surveyed. Responses were anonymous.
Workers were asked whether they would recommend their employer, and how they rated its workplace culture, including fairness, inclusivity and opportunities for professional development.
This is the second year Forbes has published the company-culture ranking.
The methodology is worth keeping in mind. It measures how surveyed employees feel about their workplaces. It does not independently compare salaries, benefits, job security, turnover or long-term advancement.
Treat the ranking as a starting point, not a verdict on what it will be like to work on a particular team.
Calgary's energy sector placed three employers on the list
Shell Canada, Suncor and Enbridge all made the ranking, giving Calgary's energy sector three of the city's eight spots.
All three have current openings on the Culture Alberta job board. Other energy employers hiring in the province include TC Energy, AltaGas, Capital Power, Cenovus Energy, Whitecap Resources, Keyera and Strathcona Resources.
The available positions cover engineering, operations, skilled trades, environmental work, finance, technology and supply-chain management.
Shell's five Alberta openings are at the Scotford Complex near Fort Saskatchewan, northeast of Edmonton. The site includes a refinery, upgrader, chemicals plant and the Quest carbon-capture facility.
Shell is currently looking for a project engineer, production-time focal, instrumentation and analyzer technician, asset-integrity manager and rotating-equipment manager.
Mount Royal made two Forbes rankings
Mount Royal University placed 141st for company culture. It also ranked 104th on Forbes' broader list of Canada's Best Employers earlier this year.
The university recently launched its School of Computing Sciences and Mathematics, with a target of enrolling more than 1,000 students by 2027. Read our coverage of the new school here.
MRU currently has 38 openings in Calgary, placing it second among Alberta post-secondary employers on the Culture Alberta job board, behind the University of Alberta.
The openings range from student-facing and game-day positions to jobs in management, data, safety, education and university operations.

Mark's was founded in Calgary
Mark's rounded out the Calgary employers at 195th.
The clothing and footwear retailer was founded in Calgary in 1977 as Mark's Work Wearhouse. It is now part of the Canadian Tire family of companies.
Its six current Alberta openings include a business-process and automation specialist, a digital-merchandising manager on a 20-month contract, an assistant manager in Lethbridge, and three fit-model positions in Calgary.
More than 1,400 Alberta jobs are on the board
The Culture Alberta job board currently carries 1,479 open roles from 52 employers.
The largest employers on the board include Calgary Co-op, Costco Wholesale Canada, Canadian Natural Resources, the Government of Alberta and the University of Alberta.
Jobs can be filtered by city, category, employment type, union status, posting date, and whether the employer publishes a salary range.
The board covers Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray and Medicine Hat.
