An AMBER Alert is in effect across Alberta as RCMP search for a seven-year-old girl abducted from her home in Valleyview, about 110 kilometres east of Grande Prairie.
Police are looking for Aspen Wilson, 7, and her stepfather, Alexander Stone, 28.
Valleyview RCMP say Aspen was taken from her home, and that Stone is believed to be driving a grey 2004 Chevrolet Venture minivan with Alberta licence plate CWY 3459.
He may be heading to Slave Lake or Red Deer.
The alert was issued at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, and covers the entire province.
If you see Aspen, Stone or the van, don't approach. Call 911.

Why this is an AMBER Alert
AMBER Alerts aren't issued for every missing child. In Alberta, police can only send one when all four of these are true:
Police believe a child has been abducted.
They believe the child is in danger of serious harm or death.
They have enough details for the public to help, like photos, a vehicle and a licence plate.
They believe the public can help find the child or the person who took them.
That's why this alert went out to phones across the province, not just as a police news release.
A stepparent, and still an abduction
Police identify Stone as Aspen's stepfather. That doesn't change how RCMP are describing what happened. The alert says Aspen was "abducted from her residence."
Alberta has issued AMBER Alerts before where a child was believed to be taken by a parent or relative.
RCMP haven't said what led up to Aspen being taken, or announced any charges.
Watch for updates
AMBER Alerts can change quickly.
In July, Beaverlodge RCMP, also in the Grande Prairie region, issued an AMBER Alert for six-year-old Lanakai Morrison. As the investigation moved, police updated the alert with a different vehicle description. It was cancelled on July 10.
