A man has died after a stabbing in Calgary's East Village, and police have released photos of two people they believe are connected.
Officers were called to the 500 block of Seventh Avenue S.E. at about 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, for reports of an assault involving a weapon.
When they arrived, they found a man with significant injuries. He was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition, and later died.
Police now believe two men who knew each other got into a fight, and one of them pulled out a knife and stabbed the other.
The man believed to have stabbed him left before officers arrived. He hasn't been found.
Police want to identify a man and a woman
Investigators spoke with witnesses and reviewed security video from the area.
On Saturday, police released photos of a man and a woman they believe are connected to the stabbing, and asked the public to help identify them.

Police haven't said what role either may have played.
"This was a brazen act of violence that claimed a person's life," said Staff Sgt. Mark Rahn of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. "We are working to determine exactly what happened and are asking anyone with information to come forward."

About East Village
East Village sits just east of Calgary's downtown core, along the Bow River. Once one of the city's most neglected neighbourhoods, it's been heavily redeveloped over the past 15 years, and is now home to condo towers, the Central Library, Studio Bell and the RiverWalk pathway.
Violence downtown, by the numbers
Police haven't linked this stabbing to any broader trend. But the Calgary Police Service's latest annual report gives some context.
Calgary recorded 15 homicides in 2025, down nearly 29 per cent from 2024, and about 44 per cent below the five-year average.
Over the same year, violent crime overall rose 4 per cent, with 11,605 assaults reported.
CPS says violence in the downtown area hit a six-year high in 2025, about 20 per cent above the five-year average.
