Five more women have come forward in an Edmonton sexual assault investigation, bringing the total number of known complainants to nine.
William McMullin, 56, was first arrested on March 17, 2026, at which point police had confirmed four adult female complainants. Following a public news release on March 25, five additional women contacted investigators prompting 10 new charges to be laid.
McMullin now faces 22 charges in total, including sexual assault, administering a stupefying substance, assault with a weapon, voyeurism, unlawful confinement, criminal harassment, intimidation, assault, and mischief under $5,000.

How the Investigation Began
The case originated in April 2025, when a woman reported being sexually assaulted after meeting a man through online dating platforms including Facebook Dating, Bumble, and Tinder. She was later invited to the suspect's home, where investigators believe he drugged and assaulted her.

Charges Span Two Cities
Edmonton Police Service investigators believe McMullin may have offended in both Edmonton and Calgary. Anyone in either city who believes they may have been victimized is encouraged to contact police.
McMullin remains in remand. His next court date is May 22, 2026. Staff Sergeant Brian McGuigan of the EPS Sexual Assault Section acknowledged the difficulty many victims face in reporting.
"If you believe you were harmed, you are not alone," McGuigan said. "Our investigators are committed to approaching every report with compassion, dignity and care, and we encourage anyone with information, no matter how long ago the incident occurred, to reach out."
Investigators believe there may be additional complainants dating back to 2021.
Anyone who believes they may have been victimized by McMullin is asked to contact Edmonton Police at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone, or Calgary Police at 403-266-1234.
