Four rifles were hidden in a concealed room.
Calgary police found them on March 26 at a property in the 245000 block of Range Road 283 in Rocky View County, in the last phase of an investigation that ran eleven months.
Seven people have been charged and an eighth is wanted on warrants. None of the allegations has been tested in court.
What police say the network was doing
The investigation began in September 2025, when police became aware of a man believed to be involved in drug trafficking in Calgary.
The CPS Organized Crime Enforcement Team took it from there and identified a network of individuals police believe were engaged in drug trafficking, firearms offences, vehicle re-vinning and prescription fraud.
Re-vinning means altering or replacing a vehicle identification number so a stolen vehicle can be sold or registered as legitimate. One of the vehicles recovered in this investigation, a stolen Dodge Ram, had been re-vinned.
Over eleven months, officers wrote 74 judicial authorizations, executed 15 search warrants and seized dozens of exhibits including digital devices. Because of the scope, searches and arrests were coordinated in phases.
"Complex investigations like this are not about one person or one search warrant," said Staff Sgt. Matt Gow of the Organized Crime Enforcement Unit. "They require investigators to carefully build a complete picture of the network, identify each person's alleged role and gather the evidence needed to support charges."
December 17: forged prescriptions and a signal jammer
Investigators searched a residence in the 253200 block of 84 Street in Delacour, a residence in the 100 block of Clearwater Terrace in Chestermere, and a Jeep associated with the suspects.
They seized $7,690 in cash and a cash counter, several forged prescription documents, prescription medication police believe was obtained with those forged prescriptions, and a radio-frequency jammer.
A radio-frequency jammer blocks signals in its vicinity. They're illegal to operate in Canada and can interfere with alarm systems, key fobs and vehicle trackers.
Two people were arrested in March.
Ausama Mohamed, 28, of Chestermere, is charged with two counts each of possession of the proceeds of crime and possession of forged documents. He was released and appears in court September 15.
Bonnie Leblanc, 40, of Delacour, is charged with seven counts of uttering a forged document and six counts of possession of the proceeds of crime. She was released and appears in court August 31.
March 9: 107 baggies inside door panels
Investigators searched a residence in the 100 block of Cityside Grove N.E., an apartment in the 200 block of 13 Avenue S.W., and three vehicles.
They seized a loaded Girsan MC14 BDA handgun, 137 rounds of ammunition, $15,410 in cash, 160.2 grams of methamphetamine, 115.1 grams of cocaine, 23 OxyContin pills, and packaging materials, buffing agent and cell phones.
Officers also found 107 individually wrapped baggies of methamphetamine and cocaine concealed in the door panelling of the vehicles searched.
Mohammed Salimi, 22, and Omed Salimi, 25, both of Calgary, are each charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000. Both were released. Mohammed Salimi appears in court August 28, Omed Salimi on August 26.
March 10: a panel behind the gear shift
The next day, the CPS Gang Suppression Team conducted a traffic stop on a man also believed to be involved in drug trafficking. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant and his vehicle was seized for examination.
Behind a panel between the gear shift and the infotainment centre, officers found a loaded Smith & Wesson SD9 VE handgun, a baggie of ammunition, 128.8 grams of powder and crack cocaine packaged into 63 individual baggies, and brass knuckles.
He had been released the previous day. Investigators issued warrants, and on July 13 he was arrested after fleeing a traffic stop in the community of Thorncliffe. Officers seized 46.3 grams of powder and crack cocaine in 39 individually wrapped baggies, 11 pills suspected to be fentanyl, and a small amount of cash.
Jayson McCormack, 21, of Calgary, is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count each of resisting arrest, carrying a concealed firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm with ammunition, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of the proceeds of crime. He was released and appears in court August 31.
March 26: the concealed room
With assistance from the RCMP Emergency Response Team, police searched the Rocky View County property and arrested one man at the residence.
The same day, investigators in Calgary searched an apartment in the 1800 block of 26 Avenue S.W. and arrested two men as they attended a scheduled probation appointment. Two vehicles were also searched.
The seizure list from that day is the longest of the investigation. Thirteen rifles, four of them hidden in a concealed room. Two loaded handguns, a 9 mm Taurus and a 9 mm Hellcat. A loaded Churchill shotgun. More than 760 rounds of assorted ammunition. Body armour. Cocaine, MDMA and $9,630 in cash. A stolen Dodge Challenger and a stolen Dodge Ram that had been re-vinned. Scales, packaging materials and cell phones. A baseball bat, crowbars and a mask found in a vehicle.
Two men were arrested and charged on July 16. Warrants were issued for a third on July 21.
Ahed Alwan, 30, of Calgary, is charged with one count each of breach of a firearms prohibition, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, possession of a firearm with ammunition, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm and possession of the proceeds of crime. He was held in custody and appears in court August 13.
Asrar Mansouri, 29, of Calgary, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count each of carrying a concealed firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm with ammunition, possession of the proceeds of crime and possession of a controlled substance. He was released and appears in court August 21.
The man still wanted
Christopher Hayward, 45, of Calgary, is wanted on warrants for four counts of breaching a firearms prohibition, two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and one count each of unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, impersonation to gain advantage and possession of the proceeds of crime.
Police describe him as approximately five foot seven and 140 pounds, with brown hair, green eyes and tattoos on his arms and chest. A photo has been released through the City of Calgary newsroom.
What was taken off the street
Eighteen firearms in total. Approximately $58,500 worth of drugs. Two stolen vehicles. Body armour, cash and drug-packaging equipment.
Police say this specific investigation is concluded, and that work continues on determining how the drugs, weapons and ammunition reached Calgary in the first place.
