The Edmonton Oilers are offering $10 burgers, hot dogs, T-shirts and discounted parking at Rogers Place. Ticket prices haven’t changed.
The team promoted its Decade Deals on Sunday, Oct. 25. The deals include discounted food, merchandise and parking at Oilers home games.
They arrive as fans keep asking what it costs to watch NHL hockey in Edmonton.
On Monday, the Oilers drew 17,043 fans against the Detroit Red Wings, according to the NHL’s official game report. That’s 1,304 below Rogers Place’s hockey capacity of 18,347.
It was another weeknight crowd below capacity, part of a pattern we’ve been tracking all October.
What are the Oilers’ $10 Decade Deals?
The Oilers’ website lists several offers marking the 10th anniversary of Rogers Place.
| Deal | Price | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|
| Decade Burger | $10 | Section 107 |
| Perogy Dog | $10 | Section 107 |
| Molson Canadian and Nathan’s hot dog combo | $10 | Molson Hockey House, Ford Hall |
| Limited-edition cream Oilers T-shirt | $10 + GST | Sections 119 and 127 |
| Arena North parking | $10 + $0.75 transaction fee | Arena North Lots, game day only |
The combo is a 12-ounce can of Molson Canadian and a Nathan’s Famous all-beef hot dog.
The food deals are only at certain spots, not every concession stand. Rogers Place’s Food Finder also lists nachos with cheese as a Decade Deal at Section 107, though it doesn’t give a price.
The Oilers say the deals are available at home games while supplies last.
How to get the $10 Oilers parking deal
The parking deal comes with a few conditions.
The Oilers say there’s a limited number of spots in the Arena North Lots for $10, plus a 75-cent transaction fee. You can’t book ahead.
You park on game day, then use the promo code OILERSPARKING10 at online checkout through the team’s parking link. It’s first come, first served.
So the real price is $10.75, not an even $10.
Full instructions are on the Oilers’ official Decade Deals page.
The $10 menu came before the attendance questions
The Oilers pushed the deals again on Oct. 25, but the $10 menu wasn’t new that weekend.
Rogers Place announced its 10th-anniversary food and drink program on Sept. 21, before the October attendance numbers started drawing attention. The arena said it was adding 82 new menu items, mobile ordering and upgraded concession technology.
That announcement already included the $10 Decade Burger and the beer-and-hot-dog combo. The newer Oilers promotion adds parking and merchandise.
The timing puts the deals in the spotlight while fans debate prices. But the team hasn’t said the promotion has anything to do with attendance.
Monday’s crowd was still 1,304 below capacity
Monday’s game against Detroit was the first home game after Sunday’s promotion.
Edmonton lost 4-3 in a shootout in front of 17,043 fans, about 92.9 per cent of capacity. That’s slightly more than the 17,032 for Minnesota on Oct. 20, but still well short of a sellout.
Here’s every home game so far:
| Date | Day | Opponent | Announced attendance | Share of capacity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sept. 29 | Tuesday | Vancouver | 18,347 | 100% |
| Oct. 3 | Saturday | Seattle | 18,070 | 98.5% |
| Oct. 15 | Thursday | Utah | 16,176 | 88.2% |
| Oct. 20 | Tuesday | Minnesota | 17,032 | 92.8% |
| Oct. 22 | Thursday | Carolina | 16,420 | 89.5% |
| Oct. 24 | Saturday | Toronto | 18,347 | 100% |
| Oct. 26 | Monday | Detroit | 17,043 | 92.9% |
Announced attendance, not a count of occupied seats. Capacity is 18,347.
Across those seven games, Edmonton is averaging about 17,348 fans, roughly 999 below capacity a night.
The two Saturday games drew 18,070 and 18,347. The four October weeknight games, against Utah, Minnesota, Carolina and Detroit, all drew fewer than 17,100.
The numbers show weeknight demand has been weaker. They don’t explain why.
One game is also far too early to judge whether the deals are working.
Fans have been questioning ticket prices
The food and parking deals only cover part of what a game costs. The ticket is still the biggest expense.
In our earlier coverage, former season ticket holders said regular-season ticket prices were why they stopped renewing.
The Oct. 15 game against Utah drew 16,176, the smallest Rogers Place crowd for an Oilers game since October 2022. Toronto sold out nine days later, but the weeknight games have kept coming in short.
The Decade Deals may save fans who are already going some money. They don’t do anything about the ticket price.
The Oilers are winning, but the seats aren’t always full
After Monday’s shootout loss, the Oilers are 8-2-2, one of the best starts in the NHL.
Connor McDavid had an assist against Detroit, extending his point streak to 12 games to start the season. That ties the longest season-opening point streak in NHL history.
Edmonton led 3-2 late in the third before Dylan Larkin tied it with 1:26 left. Lucas Raymond scored the shootout winner.
The team is giving fans plenty of reasons to show up. Some nights, they just aren’t.
Calgary visits Wednesday for the Battle of Alberta
The next home game is against the Calgary Flames on Wednesday, Oct. 28, the first Battle of Alberta at Rogers Place this season.
It’s another weeknight game, but this time against Edmonton’s biggest rival.
A sellout would show the rivalry still packs the building, even midweek. Another crowd under capacity would add to the early-season pattern.
Either way, one game won’t say much about the deals.
For now, the Oilers have made a few parts of a night at Rogers Place cheaper. Whether that’s enough for the fans who stopped coming is still an open question.
We’ll add Wednesday’s crowd to the table after the game.
